Moonrise Casita was an absolutely wonderful place. It was clean, spacious, modern and perfect for our Tucson vacation. We hiked in the canyons, saw red tailed hawks and quails, sunned ourselves off the porch and just generally enjoyed the peacefulness of Moonrise. Both bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was cozy but outfitted with everything you need. The main living room/kitchen was open with a huge flat screen tv and instructions on how to use the wireless internet. I loved the front porch because you could sit and be cool in the shade or move your chair a little and soak up the sun. They have a security system that makes you feel safe while you are away because it is somewhat isolated in the canyon and you don't see too many people or cars. The owners made sure we had everything we needed and were wonderful from start to finish. Highly recommend this gem.
Nestled inside a boulder studded canyon this adobe casita is the perfect peaceful retreat possessing a commanding view of Tucson. With just under 4 acres to roam, the romance of the location will enchant couples. Possessing the rustic qualities of the classic Tucson adobe style, the massive 16′ thick walls of the adobe casita were forged from the earth with adobe blocks made on site.  The casita appears as though it’s always been there having grown out of the ground merging seamlessly with the surrounding desert. Adobe construction including passive solar design moderate temperatures in ways unmatched by other building materials providing an unsurpassed level of comfort.

If you’ve never slept in an adobe home it may be your best night’s sleep yet.  The natural materials of the casita were chosen to effect a calming harmony that will help relax you into a deep slumber at night as the coyotes serenade you to sleep.  Imagine waking fully restored with an energy reminiscent of your childhood. The casita features the conveniences of modern living:
  • Update Facebook, connect with your family at home via Skype, or just catch up on a TV show you missed on HULU from any room with WIFI.
  • Catch the big game, your favorite soap, or the most popular prime-time shows on a large, flat screen, LED HDTV.
  • Cuddle with loved ones as the wood burning fireplace warms and transforms your nights into a cherished memory.
  • Whip up a quick snack using the new microwave then stash the dishes in the new dishwasher.
  • Even though you’ll start to miss the casita before you leave, take advantage of the new washer and dryer to pack fresh, clean clothes.
  • Start your morning with a complimentary coffee starter pack.
  • The 300+ thread count, organic cotton sheets are a joy to sleep on. Additional linens provided to enhance your comfort.
  • With more than 350 days of sunshine, Tucson is the sunniest city in the US. Attached covered parking protects your vehicle.
  • For your convenience a hair dryer is stored in the bath vanity.
  • A naturalist library containing numerous field guides to look up your discoveries made during your foray into the surrounding desert.
  • A full kitchen is available for foodies wanting to cook for themselves but you may want to take advantage of our Special Offers instead and sample the wondrous delights of Southwestern cuisine among many others.
Special Offers: With a 1 wk reservation you’ll receive:
  • A free guided tour valued at $97 per person led by a naturalist entrusted with the traditional wisdom carried by national treasures such as the great, great grandson of Sitting Bull and the Shadow Wolves a group of local Native American trackers.

Spring break in Tucson

The casita is even more beautifully appointed than described. We really appreicated the Electrolux washer/dryer. There are wonderful views from all the windows. The house is located only a few minutes from park land. There are other homes in the area but it still feels very secluded. It is off a private road that is not paved so a 4-wheel vehicle would be useful. You can use 4-wheel drive for the unpaved parts of the National Park, as well.

Very quiet, peaceful location. Saw several species of wildlife right up close to house. A great place to relax. The owners house, being built right next to casita, might take away from the feeling of space and peace (it was not quite finished when we rented their casita), but will still be superior to renting in a hotel or house within downtown Tucson. It's too small for more than three.

Moonrise Casita works its magic!

Moonrise Casita captured our visual interest the moment we started looking for a new vacation spot. Being from snow country, we needed a change in the climate! And a change in the type of lodging we had previously used. The casita was the answer! Our ten day stay was packed with new adventures and great weather. A welcome basket from our hosts Rhonda and Andrew awaited us in the charming main room area. Many amenities present. New to the desert environment, Andrew was a great resource person. His Saguaro Nat'l Park tour is a must. Take it! We saw during our stay, hawks, rabbits, quail, coyote and more. The architectural details in the casita were carefully designed by Andrew. The layout of the rooms is very functional and you can have privacy or play cards/games in the main room. The internet television and our cell phones worked well on our trip. We enjoyed the wood and adobe touches, brick floor, colorful tiles and comfortable atmosphere. There are two library areas for readers including many books specific to the desert area. Check out the local eating spots. We recommend the Saguaro Nat'l Park, Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, located close to the casita. The Pima County air and Space Museum has something to offer to all age groups. We toured something every day but ran out of time. We will definitely be back to catch more. Moonrise Casita provided a unique and special place to stay while appreciating the magical, beautiful lure of the desert and mountains and area attractions.

Spent a wonderful 12 days enjoying the Sonoran desert near Saguaro National Park West. The adobe casita was an architectural delight and the location among the boulders with natural flora and fauna was PERFECT. We learned a lot from the host's desert tour and it set the mood for experiencing our desert adventures with all our senses. Enjoyed stargazing on Mt. Lemmon, attending a Mariachi event at the nearby AVA amphitheater at Casino del Sol, hiking among the blooming saguaros, bird watching in the mesquite forest at Catalina State Park, eating breakfast burritos at Tania's Flour Tortillas, and admiring unique furniture and pottery in Tubac.

Quiet Cozy Casita near Tucson Mountain Park

Every year we travel to Arizona in November for some sun filled mountain biking and hiking. The cozy casita we rented from Andrew is in a perfect location for the Tucson Mountain Park. The casita itself is very practical with a large kitchen/ sitting area being the focal point. The location is extremely quiet, yet quite close to restaurants and shopping. Andrew was a super host, responding very quickly to our requests. Certainly take him up on his free guided tour- very cool.
